SecureMaine Conference Code of Conduct
SecureMaine seeks a welcoming, inclusive event, where individuals can focus on the shared mission, and the important cybersecurity and infrastructure security issues and resources featured during the day and beyond.
Toward that goal, SecureMaine expects all participants – including, but not limited to, board members, collaborating organization partners, volunteers, presenters/panelists, sponsors, facility/venue staff and vendors, students, and public/general attendees to observe guidelines of professional, courteous, and inclusive behavior, including:
SecureMaine is committed to providing an environment that is free from harassment or discrimination in all its forms, including age, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, language, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, health, socioeconomic status, marital status, domestic status, immigration status, technology background or skills, or physical appearance. Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination in any form will not be tolerated. Engaging in unacceptable behavior as described in this Code of Conduct may result in being asked to leave the event and/or being barred from future SecureMaine events/activities.
If you observe questionable behavior, please bring the situation to the attention of the nearest SecureMaine board member (pictures on the Board page of the website; board members may often be near the registration counter), or to a volunteer at registration who can find a SecureMaine board member.

- Present themselves, interact and communicate in a professional and constructive manner during in-person, virtual, and electronic communications.
- Handle dissent or disagreement with courtesy, dignity and an open mind. Be respectful when providing written and verbal feedback.
- Be sensitive to and respectful of cultural contexts that vary across the security disciplines, and the region.
- At the SecureMaine event, those attending the event in any capacity, wear their Conference Badge at all times (facility service providers / vendors should wear identifying clothing or badges).
- Report – honestly and truthfully – about any questionable behavior they witness on the part of any participant, per the guidelines at the end.
- Be conscious of their well-being and stay home if they are feeling unwell. Anyone who is concerned about recent pathogen exposure should please consider wearing a protective mask.
